I will definitely be visiting The Open West annual open competition and exhibition which invites work from national and international artists practising contemporary and conceptual art. The work submitted can include paintings, installations, films, textile pieces, photography, ceramics, drawing and print, performance, sculpture, glass, metal and plastics artworks. The exhibition is at two venues this year, it’s currently at the National Trust’s Newark Park until 18th August and then shown again at the Cheltenham Art Gallery in October. Newark Park is an intriguing historic house which is a fantastic setting for the open west to curate contemporary artworks throughout the existing collections – the exhibition extends through bedrooms, drawing rooms and dining spaces, in the 16th century kitchens and walled gardens, in cupboards, halls and ante-chambers. A definite inspirational and creative place to visit one Sunday soon! For more information click here - http://www.theopenwest.org.uk/index.html
